class=\"wp-block-paragraph\"><\/p>\n\n\n\n<figure class=\"wp-block-image size-full\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" width=\"633\" height=\"385\" como una especie vulnerable, el tibur\u00f3n gatopardo (<em>Notorynchus cepedianus<\/em>) est\u00e1 cada vez m\u00e1s en peligro en el mar patag\u00f3nico argentino, debido, principalmente, a la falta de leyes que regulen la pesca deportiva con sacrificio (Imagen: <a href=\"https:\/\/weekend.perfil.com\">https:\/\/weekend.perfil.com<\/a> 2021).<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">La Lista Roja de Especies Amenazadas de la Uni\u00f3n Internacional para la Conservaci\u00f3n de la Naturaleza (UICN) (*) es un indicador fundamental del estado de la biodiversidad acu\u00e1tica y terrestre a nivel mundial, que da seguimiento al riesgo de extinci\u00f3n a lo largo del tiempo.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Los tiburones, las rayas y las quimeras (Chondrichthyes) han sido evaluados exhaustivamente en dos ocasiones (1996\u20132011 y 2012\u20132021), con evaluaciones retrospectivas a partir de 1970, lo que ha permitido obtener una trayectoria del riesgo de extinci\u00f3n sin precedentes para una clase de vertebrados acu\u00e1ticos.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">El \u00e9xito de tres d\u00e9cadas del Grupo de Especialistas en Tiburones (SSG) de la Comisi\u00f3n de Supervivencia de Especies (SSC) de la UICN en proporcionar evaluaciones actualizadas y basadas en evidencia se debe a las actividades sostenidas y coordinadas de los miembros del SSG.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">En este trabajo (Finucci y col., 2026) los autores examinan c\u00f3mo una comunidad de expertos comprometidos se organiz\u00f3 para llenar las brechas en la informaci\u00f3n clave necesaria para fundamentar las evaluaciones de la Lista Roja.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">En la Figura siguiente se presenta el estado de riesgo de extinci\u00f3n (seg\u00fan la Lista Roja de Especies Amenazadas de la UICN), de todos los tiburones, rayas y quimeras (n = 1021) que han sido objeto de al menos dos rondas de evaluaci\u00f3n entre 2005 y 2020.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<figure class=\"wp-block-image size-full\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" width=\"640\" height=\"398\" Categor\u00edas: CR (PE), En peligro cr\u00edtico (posiblemente extinta); CR, En peligro cr\u00edtico; EN, En peligro; VU, Vulnerable; NT, Casi amenazada; LC, Preocupaci\u00f3n menor; y DD, Datos insuficientes.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">A partir de esta evaluaci\u00f3n, identifican seis lecciones clave, seg\u00fan: 1) Una <strong>membres\u00eda amplia, diversa y representativa a nivel mundial<\/strong> garantiza resultados cient\u00edficos s\u00f3lidos y cre\u00edbles (por ejemplo, las evaluaciones de la Lista Roja, derivadas de manuscritos regionales revisados \u200b\u200bpor pares); 2) Los <strong>cambios taxon\u00f3micos<\/strong> alteran fundamentalmente las evaluaciones del riesgo de extinci\u00f3n y deben gestionarse de manera din\u00e1mica; 3) Un <strong>enfoque precautorio <\/strong>resulta m\u00e1s efectivo para considerar el riesgo potencial de extinci\u00f3n para especies con datos limitados y largos tiempos de generaci\u00f3n; 4) Es importante la <strong>priorizaci\u00f3n de la informaci\u00f3n<\/strong>, ya que no toda la informaci\u00f3n biol\u00f3gica es relevante para evaluar el riesgo de extinci\u00f3n; 5) Las <strong>herramientas anal\u00edticas estandarizadas<\/strong> (p. ej., JARA) contribuyen a reducir la subjetividad y la inconsistencia; y 6) Es clave <strong>cerrar la brecha de pol\u00edticas<\/strong>, ya que las evaluaciones globales, son generalmente insuficientes para impulsar acciones de conservaci\u00f3n locales o regionales eficaces.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Finalmente, se\u00f1alan que, es necesario abordar las limitaciones de recursos y las discrepancias en las evaluaciones a diferentes escalas espaciales, para garantizar que las evaluaciones se mantengan al d\u00eda con los avances en conservaci\u00f3n.
