En ese tiempo alcanz\u00f3 una ligera solvencia econ\u00f3mica, en parte por las tradiciones de la pesca y luego por la celebraci\u00f3n, cada a\u00f1o, del Torneo de la pesca Ernest Hemingway, en homenaje al famoso escritor estadounidense que con su participaci\u00f3n en la pesca de la aguja contribuy\u00f3 a establecer, incluso a nivel internacional, la imagen de Coj\u00edmar como pueblo de pescadores.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>La realidad es que los hombres de mar que pescan por su cuenta en Coj\u00edmar nunca han podido vivir del resultado de su trabajo. Se torn\u00f3 muy dif\u00edcil vender sus productos a la escasa poblaci\u00f3n, aunque en el intento, con la exhibici\u00f3n de las ensartas por las calles, el poblado fue ganando ese toque pintoresco.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Recuerdo que en mi infancia hab\u00eda una cooperativa pesquera estatal, que llamaban La tiburonera, donde cada ma\u00f1ana algunos tiburones y otros peces de gran tama\u00f1o eran rematados y despiezados, ante la vista de los transe\u00fantes que pasaban. Esa fue otra de las coyunturas que ayud\u00f3 a reafirmar la imagen de los pescadores.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Hoy es interesante ver c\u00f3mo el desarrollo urban\u00edstico ha hecho cambiar, en gran medida, la imagen de este pueblo, para bien.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Suntuosas residencias han sido construidas por los nuevos moradores. Estas no tienen nada que ver con las humildes viviendas t\u00edpicas de otras d\u00e9cadas. Por lo que el inter\u00e9s del visitante se ha inclinado actualmente a apreciar la diversidad constructiva a trav\u00e9s de estilos particulares y no hacia el encanto creado por los pescadores, a quienes, hoy, en raras ocasiones se les ve por las calles.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>La mayor\u00eda de las personas creen que si vives en Cojimar tendr\u00e1s mucho dinero, por la relaci\u00f3n que establecen entre el resultado visual y los bolsillos de todos los que aqu\u00ed vivimos. Lo cierto es que hoy el dinero que hay en Coj\u00edmar no proviene de la pesca.
