Good day,
Sustainable Seas Trust (SST), in partnership with the Deutsche Gesellschaft für Internationale Zusammenarbeit (GIZ) have developed a new training programme focused on Sustainable Waste Management in Africa. In support of the roll out of this to African countries, SST will be conducting in-person Training of Trainers workshops later this year. These sessions will cover foundational components of waste management, before looking at the Global Plastics Treaty — with the aim of strengthening the stance of African countries and exploring what the treaty will mean at national levels.
These workshops are aimed at trainers in the region who conduct workshops and other forms of training with local and national government, as well as small, medium, and micro-enterprises (SMMEs). The programme aims to have the training content reach a wider audience across the east and west coasts of Africa, with training contextualised by local knowledge.
Two workshops will be held:
- Nairobi (late June, early July 2025) for trainers based on the east coast of Africa
- Abidjan (early September 2025) for trainers based on the west coast
We are in the process of looking for trainers who run courses or workshops with the target audience of SMMEs, and local and national governments. If you currently deliver training to these audiences and you are interested in attending one of the in-person Training of Trainers workshops, please complete the application form here by 25 April 2025.
If you know of suitable candidates for the training, please feel free to pass along the information above, or share their details with us and we will reach out to them directly.
